2008 edition:
Line up:
Sr Coconut and his Orchestra ( feat. Argenis Brito ), Apparat, Thomas Brinkman, Mouse on Mars, T-Raumschmiere
Concept:
Festival de Mayo is honored to present from May 11 to May 15 a
selection of important German music and electronic video artists, the
nutritious staging responsible for the recent world-wide development of
this art.
On the 11th,
Mister Coconut and his Orchestra Feat. Opening this concert cycle with
a premiere specially staged for the May Festival of their ‘2008 AROUND
THE WORLD TOUR’, they will present their new album with Argenis Brito.
The twelve musicians of this band, headed by Atom Heart, leader of this
project, will trigger the starting gunshot for this electronic German
music icons marathon. Get ready to bring back to life re-mixed classics
such as Daft Punk’s “Around the World”, Eurhythmics “Sweet Dreams are
Made of This” and the Trio’s “DaDaDa”, with the energy and the formula
that has propelled to become, in a single album, one of the most
popular bands of the moment.
On May 13th,
the group Apparat Band will present its recent album, “Walls”, which
became one of the most important 2007 records. The creation of this
band stems from their urge to play this more organic album live, not so
phased on dance music as the Apparat in Solitaire project. After
presenting and rolling this idea through all the most important cities
of the world, they appear for the first time in Mexico, another string
and exclusive platter offered via the May Festival to the delight of
Guadalajara’s audiences. More brainy than danceable, Apparat’s music
implicitly carries that melancholy which has taken many to say that, in
spite of being almost completely computerized, it is loaded with
feeling.
On May 14,
it is the turn of Mouse on Mars, mythical band of the German stage.
With seven albums and nine Eps, Mouse on Mars has won the reputation of
being one of the most innovative and prolific groups of the electronic
scene.
Musically, Mouse on Mars creates dense atmospheres thanks
to their superimposing sound layers which go from experimental to pop
and trying to avoid the typical looping succession, so common lately.
They have collaborated with the house enlightened Mathew Herbert, and
as if that were not enough, they also found time to musicalize the
ineffable film “Glam” in which Tony Danza shines.
On May 15,
the grand-finale corresponds to T-Raumschmiere and DJ Flush, visuals by
Transforma and Thomas Brinkmann, in conjunction with Kart Kliem visuals.
The best techno and visual choice from Germany, a genuine German-Fest with a super de luxe show.
No introduction is necessary for these artists that, for their career
and works deserve to be in the Hall of Fame of electronic music. You
cannot risk losing this unique opportunity.

A nice and exciting network of friends and artists and a nice, intimate location with a very beautiful garden connected to the best club in the world - what more could you want?
Every Wednesday there will be music at its finest, to celebrate, but also to listen: Well-known and unknown DJs give the non-existent jack in hand, no huge line ups, no name dropping, no 10000 Flyer, which nobody wants. A dignified place for celebrations, but also a venue for special events and opportunities for installations, and ambient listening sessions earlier in the evening, for upcoming DJs and for everything else that brings joy: An open approach.

Canary Island Urban Culture Festival will be the biggest emerging canarian art , will be the largest sample of young canarian artists that has been done outside the islands and the largest exhibition of different styles and techniques in a single enclosure.
Canary Island Urban Culture is determined by placing a bet on the islands in the context of pop art and urban art, adding to the various initiatives being undertaken in this area in Spain and other countries, the Biennale of urban art in Puerto Rico, Asturias Bienal of pop art or National´s Monterrey Pop Art Biennial. With this initiative the emerging art of the Canary Islands will be visible outside our borders.
A festival in which they do not miss any of the creators of the Islands, the emerging art movements and emerging trends that are experienced in each of the islands. The festival is in the Canary Islands because every young designers are represented in it. An exhibition space in which blends sports, art and urban culture.
This will be a unique opportunity for this explosion of creativity of these innovators who demonstrate in their own land, may give a qualitative leap and location. We want to move the proposals of the artists who usually work with our company and participate in our festivals to places such as Las Palmas (Spain), Dakar (Senegal), Madrid (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal), Berlin (Germany).
Just to have different locations in different countries, each sample will have some characteristics that make it different from the previous one, for the opening we propose workshops and live graffiti exhibitions and DJ sets from artists participating in the shows and offer an example of ephemeral art, as this part of creation will disappear once the CIUC Festival is closed, so it would be a new and unique exhibition in each location.
The actual art, also known as emerging art, is characterized primarily by the great themes of eclecticism, technical and aesthetic trends. Practically anything goes, but one aspect of this is increasingly finding the interaction between art and the public. The trends are still numerous pop art, a wide range of styles, which are mixed, merged and developed continuously. The festival would highlight all these events, which occur in the Canary Islands with the same quality as anywhere in the world in a single venue, and where the public actively participate.
CIUC festival will bring together Canarian musicians of different styles and djs, exhibitions, live graffiti and skate-board displays in addition to a major exhibition that will link photographers, illustrators, graphic designers, graffiti, paintings trend of urban, stencil, toys, video, the latest in design and customizing all kinds of items such as shoes, caps, shirts, skate boards, bodyboards or furniture and skate-board exhibitions.

The mistake

They are the best example of post-hardcore sound in the Canary Islands. Thus we find in "Antifreeze," his first Lp for BCore, a variety of resources, including styles, under a common pattern, that makes the mistake a group of commendable modernity .We find thousand referentes that would not be connected unless We understand that they are united by a cloak of seniority, lack of prejudice and anxiety out of any musical complex.
That spanish voice close to Nueva Vulcano, but also those keyboards from Interpol, Futureheads and Maximo Park, or those introspective acoustics close to Sr Chinarro or Los Planetas, without forgetting the emocore punch from their early days, reminiscent of Sensefield , Chamberlain or Superchunk.
Probably the mixture of genres, mixed with consistency and properly executed is proper for a band with a career spanning over 10 years , which after two excellent albums such as "Opium" (13 Recordings / La Felguera, 2001) and "Polaroids "(2005) have led them to consider it, the thirdd one, as a second starting point of his career.
